Our scripture this morning is Romans 8:9-11.
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness. Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.
Paul explains that God has defeated death through the resurrection of Christ and the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Those who continue to follow the way of world do not truly belong to God. However, he tells us “the Spirit is your life because of righteousness” and through our faith, we can be reconciled to God.
God wants to be part of our lives and He wants us to be part of His plan. He has chosen us to share His love with everyone. If we obey His commandments and live by His word, “the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you”.
God invites us to be full participants in the life He has promised, here on earth and in eternity. He has gifted us with the resources and energy to go to the world in His name. May we respond with joy!
Gracious God, we are sorry for our wrong choices. Help us to resist selfish decisions and live in the Spirit You have sent, that all the world may know Your love. Amen.
