10/19/22

Our scripture this morning is ‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬-‭12‬.

When he comes on that day, he will receive glory from his holy people—praise from all who believe. And this includes you, for you believed what we told you about him. So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Paul speaks of the Day of the Lord, reminding us that Jesus will return and the faithful will offer Him their praise. In order to be included in that group, we must “live a life worthy of His call” (v. 11). We have been blessed but we have also been given responsibilities in the kingdom.

We are challenged to “accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do” and live according to what Jesus has taught us. There is much work to be done, but we have been given the gifts necessary to work together in spreading the Good News. Only through our faith and fellowship can we carry God’s word to the world.

Think about the talent He has given you and how it can be used for His purposes. Pray about His plan for you and ask for guidance in continuing the ministry to which you are called. God has asked us to be part of what He is doing in eternity, may we respond with joy.

Loving Lord, we are humbled that You include us in the work of salvation. Help us to use what You have given us well, sharing Your love with everyone. Amen.
