Our scripture today is Ezekiel 11:12 (NIV).
And you will know that I am the Lord, for you have not followed my decrees or kept my laws but have conformed to the standards of the nations around you.
God tells the people their sin of not honoring Him and that they will see what it is like to be just “one of the nations.” God accuses them (righteously) of having “conformed to the standards of the nations around you.” God’s chosen people are behaving the same as everyone else in the world! This is what the apostle Paul warned about in Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” To be a child of God is to be made in His image and act according to His laws. It’s never too late to begin or renew a relationship with our Creator.
Loving Lord, help us to see everyone as You see them, worthy of love and connection to You. Bless us to be the bearers of the Good News to everyone. Amen.
