Our scripture today is Jeremiah 1:5 (ESV).
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
Jeremiah receives his call from God in this verse, becoming a prophet to the southern kingdom of Judah. He is perhaps not as well known as the prophet Isaiah, but as we will see he carries the same message to the people of Judah. In this verse we also hear God’s love and foreknowledge of each of us, and His plan for us all. Through Christ’s Great Commission to us to make disciples of all people, we too are appointed as prophets to the nations.
Gracious God, You not only made a way for us to be saved, but a way for us to be part of Your redemption. Bless us to go in Your name spreading the Good News to all. Amen.
