Our scripture this morning is Ephesians 5:1-2.
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
Paul encourages us to “imitate God in everything you do.” Many seem to want to imitate God by trying to be in control, but that is not the point of this statement! We are called to receive His love and share it with the world in thanks and obedience.
God has given us His love and guidance throughout human history. We know that Jesus came to teach us and “offered Himself as a sacrifice for us.” Unfortunately, we have often chosen our own way rather than the example He has shown us.
Following the way of Jesus is not always easy and He told us we would encounter resistance to His message of love. We must remain strong in our faith and our connection to Him. God is present with us in all we say and do. May we lean on His wisdom, strength and love always.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Jesus to love and lead us. Help us to follow the example He has given, sharing the Good News everywhere. Amen.
