Our scripture this morning is Psalms 46:1-3.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.

This psalm reminds us of God’s special presence with us. He has promised to be with His children always. We will see His protection when we face difficult times. We don’t let catastrophes beyond our control keep us from acting in faith.

Even when things go wrong, we live in faith, not fear. In the hardest times we can experience God at work. While we may witness awful tragedies, our connection to Him can’t be broken by the things of the world.

God created everything that is and He is in control. We may disappoint Him through our sinful behavior, but His love for us is eternal. When we return in repentance, He is ready to welcome us back.

Loving Lord, You are the Almighty One who made us in Your image. Help us to live in Your love and share it with all the world. Amen.
