Our scripture this morning is Colossians 4:5-6.

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Paul gives instructions to the Colossians (and us) regarding our interactions with those outside the faith. Jesus set the example for us in how He treated Gentiles, those who were not Jewish. He was kind and inviting to all people, regardless of their heritage.

We are to use the time God has given us to share His love and explain our faith in Him. Grace gives kindness without condition, and we are to give grace to others, just as He has given us grace. We are called to be ready witnesses for Christ, using our gifts to “know how to answer everyone.”

Paul recommends our conversation be “seasoned with salt”, a reference to its cleansing and preserving qualities. Our task is to help cleanse the world of evil and preserve God’s people. When we work together as the body of Christ, we can make a difference!

Gracious God, we are sorry for the times we don’t extend Your love to everyone. Help us to see all people as Your beloved children and share the blessings we have been given. Amen.
