Our scripture this morning is Psalms 55:16-18, 22.

As for me, I call to God, and the Lord saves me. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice. He rescues me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me. Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

This passage speaks of God’s care and protection for those who put their faith in Him. It testifies to His steadfast love when we reach out to Him. When we suffer because the world opposes us, “He hears my voice.”

King David wrote many psalms about the difficulties he and his people faced, but His faith in God never faltered. We should look to this example in our own lives. While we may not face the same kind of issues David and the children of Israel did, we know we can call on our Heavenly Father whenever we are in need.

We are taught to “cast your cares on the Lord” and trust the promise that “He will sustain you”. God cares about all of creation, but we who were created in His image have a special relationship and carry a special responsibility. Our task is to love God, love neighbor and make disciples of all the world.

Gracious God, we are grateful for Your love and care. Help us to love and care for Your creation and carry the Good News everywhere. Amen.
