Our scripture this morning is Isaiah 40:28-31.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

The prophet Isaiah writes of hope for God’s people in the midst of their captivity, brought on by their disobedience. He speaks of a spiritual liberation, a new Exodus which will lead them back to a relationship with the Creator. While they are suffering because they turned away from Him, the Lord still loves His errant children.

We hear that “The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.” He is not subject to human limitations. He has a plan for His people, and as He has led them in the past, He will continue to do so when His people repent.

God gives strength to those who trust Him. Isaiah tells us “they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” God will provide emotional, physical and spiritual revival for those who love Him and obey.

Heavenly Father, we are sorry for our selfish and lazy ways. We come to ask Your forgiveness and renewal. Send us to fulfill the work of Your kingdom. In Your name we pray. Amen.
