Our scripture this morning is Psalms 19:1-6.
The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard; yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In the heavens he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom from his wedding canopy, and like a strong man runs its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and nothing is hid from its heat.
This psalm tells us that creation testifies to God’s greatness at all times and in all places. In Luke 19 Jesus tells the Pharisees who want His followers to be quiet “I tell you, if these stop speaking, the stones will cry out!” Everything praises their maker.
We were made specifically for relationship with God, but He doesn’t force us. We must choose to connect with Him. Without His loving care, we would not exist. In John 15 we read “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing”.
How do we offer God our praise? We connect personally through study and prayer, in corporate worship and by caring for His creation, to include our brothers and sisters. God has given us charge over His gifts and our best offering is to love one another as He first loved us.
Gracious God, we are amazed that You include us in Your plan for all creation. Help us to share the Good News of salvation with everyone. Amen.
