Our scripture this morning is Ephesians 5:1-2.
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
Paul writes that we are to “imitate God in everything you do”. This isn’t always easy but it is the example of Jesus we are called to follow. We are blessed to be God’s dear children, made in His image and invited to be part of His plan for salvation.
We can’t do it alone. We must accept the forgiveness He offers and “live a life filled with love”. He charges us to share that love with everyone, that they might know, love and follow Him as well.
All of this is because of His love for us, sending His son as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus was obedient, even unto death. May we follow the path He has shown us, loving one another as He first loved us.
Heavenly Father, we are ashamed of our willful disobedience and ask Your forgiveness. Help us to live in the light of Your love, sharing the Good News with all the world. Amen.
