Our scripture this morning is Psalms 3:3-6.
But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy mountain. I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me. I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.
This passage reminds us of God’s protective love watching over us. The psalmist tells us that the Lord is a shield around us. He will give us rest and defend us against all evil when we put our trust in Him.
We have been given free will to choose for ourselves but only with His help can we be truly successful. When we try to live in our own wisdom and strength, we fail. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
God wants to be in connection with us, blessing us with safety and peace. He asks for our faith and obedience in return. When we follow the path He has shown us, we can be saved from the the pitfalls of sin the enemy has set for us.
Gracious God, we give You thanks for the blessing of Your presence with us to guide and protect us. Help us to hear Your voice above all things, and send us to share Your love with all the world. Amen.
