Our scripture this morning is ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:14-18.

“For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”

Paul speaks of the Day of the Lord and our joyful reunion with Him. We have read of the Last Days and troubles that will occur, but those who have put their faith in Him have nothing to fear. Jesus was raised to destroy the power of death forever.

We are told that the dead in Christ will rise and we will all be together. This is God’s plan for us and His love in action, that those who believe and obey will be united with Him. Scripture states “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever” (‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:4).

Are you ready to be with Him forever? Sometimes we pray “Come Lord Jesus!” because of the things we see happening here, but we must be prepared. God calls us to live in His love, sharing the Good News and waiting patiently until the time He determines.

Gracious God, we are thankful for the gift of Your son who came to save us. Help us to be steadfast workers of Your coming kingdom. Amen.
