Our scripture this morning is Hebrews‬ ‭1:1-4‬.

“Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.”

The opening of the Letter to the Hebrews teaches that Jesus came as the greatest prophet, not merely telling us what God says, but showing us. Jesus had been with God and part of God since the very beginning. His love and witness to us was part of God’s plan for our salvation.

Before He returned to be with God, Jesus called His followers to continue His ministry on earth, sharing God’s love with everyone. They didn’t have fast transportation or easy communication, but they were eager to spread God’s message and willing to face hardship and even death. The Word went out because those early evangelists were steadfast in their faith and strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

We have the same call and the same Holy Spirit present with us. God has blessed us to develop ways to travel and communicate worldwide in order to spread His Word in our world. May we be the disciples of today, ready to go where we are needed to share God’s love with everyone.

Gracious God, we are thankful to be asked to share our faith with others. Bless us to be a blessing to all the world. Amen.
