10/17/21

Our scripture this morning is ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:14-17‬.

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Paul writes to Timothy, encouraging him regarding the importance of Scripture in our lives. He gives a list of things it teaches, but the essential truth is that “all scripture is breathed out by God” (v. 16). How amazing is this? God speaks into our lives through these inspired writings that we might know and do His will.

Spending time in the Word not only teaches us but heals us. While we may feel our problems are unique, we often find that others have endured similar things throughout history. God has led His people through difficult times from the very beginning.

God knows what we need better than we know ourselves, and through scripture He gives the instruction necessary for a life of faith in Him. No matter what we face, scripture brings us comfort and strength. Hear God’s Word and know that it was given for you.

Wise and wonderful God, we are thankful for the gift of scripture and the guidance it gives. Help us to learn throughout our lives and to follow the path You have planned for us. Amen.
