Our scripture today is John 15:18 (MEV).
If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
Jesus tells His followers an awful truth: the world will hate us for following Him. The world is under Satan’s influence and he stirs up chaos and conflict wherever people allow it. When we stand with Jesus and share God’s love, the worldly powers are threatened. We must be aware that there is a cost to our discipleship and that is letting go of worldly things that control us – power, position, wealth and the like. When Jesus said “No one can serve two masters” (Matthew 6:24), He wasn’t just talking about money.
Heavenly Father, You sent Your Son to save us, knowing the world would hate and reject Him. Help us to be faithful when our outreach brings resistance, and continue to share Your love. Amen.
