And do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.
From the very beginning we have had a responsibility to look after creation, and that has always included each other. While Cain complains “Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Genesis 4:9), we know the answer God gives is yes. Jesus gave us the example of caring for one another, becoming a servant to all. God calls us to share what we have been given in many ways, but He wants us to be personally connected. While monetary donations to care ministries are essential, volunteering can be a blessing to those who serve as well as those they serve. May we be ready to do the up close and personal work of caring.
Loving Lord, help us to use the gifts You give wisely, sharing our time, talent and treasure for the good of all Your children. Amen.
