Our scripture today is 2 Samuel 12:7 (ESV).
Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.’”
David has let his own desire and power separate him from God. When the prophet Nathan tells David “You are the man”, unlike others confronted with their sin, David confesses and asks forgiveness. God does forgive him, but David’s actions have serious consequences for his family and eventually, the entire nation. We need to consider how our words and actions affect our brothers and sisters, and the work of the kingdom.
Heavenly Father, we ask Your forgiveness for our selfishness and our disregard for others. Help us to show the world Your love through the way we live and care for each other. Amen.
