Our scripture this morning is Exodus 14:13-14 (NET).

Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord that he will provide for you today; for the Egyptians that you see today you will never, ever see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you can be still.”

At the Red Sea the fleeing Israelites were trapped by Pharaoh’s army (or so the Egyptians thought). His people are afraid but Moses says “Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord that he will provide for you today.” Trusting in the Lord is often difficult, especially when we feel we need to “do something”. We must see that standing firm in His love IS doing something. God works in the world through His people, but as this and other miraculous stories in scripture show us, He certainly doesn’t need us to act.

Heavenly Father, help us to trust Your wisdom and strength, not our own. May we be faithful kingdom workers, ready to act when called, but willing to wait patiently on You. Amen.
