Our scripture this morning is Ephesians 6:18 (NASB1995).
With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.
Paul asks us to pray “at all times in the Spirit”, meaning we are aware of more than just our human needs in prayer. Paul’s partner in ministry Luke puts it this way: “But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:36). We need to make sure that prayer is not an afterthought but our first thought. James 5:16 tells us that “effective prayer can accomplish much.” We have been equipped per the previous Armor of God lesson (Ephesians 6:10-17), prayer is our communication system to understand God’s will for us and our responsibility in His creation.
Today, I’d like you to pray The Lord’s Prayer however you are used to saying it. We all pray to the same Lord, no matter what words we use.
