Our scripture today is Psalms 9:1-2 (NASB1995).

I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. I will be glad and exult in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.

Today in the United States we celebrate Thanksgiving, remembering the blessings we have been given by our loving God. The psalmist links thanks and praise, our response to God for His care. It is important for us to recognize that all good things come from Him and any good we do or receive is because of Him. God wants us all to be part of what He is doing in creation, treating each other with the love and care He offers us. We recount the stories of how He has offered guidance and protection throughout human history and our shared connection to Him. While today may be a holiday in the US, we need to give our thanks and praise to God every day, celebrating His love and His forgiveness offered through Christ’s sacrifice for us.

Gracious God, as we celebrate and remember today, help us to make each day a celebration of Your love, and share it with all our brothers and sisters. May we go in Your name, telling the Good News of salvation everywhere. Amen.
